Facilitated WCO Workshop on Risk Management and Data Analytics in Uzbekistan

I had the privilege of facilitating the WCO Workshop on Risk Management and Data Analytics for the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan, held in Tashkent from 15 to 19 June 2026 under the SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme (GTFP) II.

The workshop focused on strengthening Uzbekistan Customs’ risk management framework through practical exercises, facilitated discussions, and knowledge exchange on international best practices.

During the workshop, we covered:

• Risk Management Framework and governance structures
• Role and functions of Risk Management Committees
• Development of a comprehensive risk management strategy
• Assessment of current practices and identification of improvement areas
• Finalization of the Risk Management Enhancement Plan for 2026–2029

The workshop provided an excellent opportunity to collaborate with the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan in strengthening institutional capacity and supporting the development of a more effective, modern, and data-driven risk management approach.

This mission was a particularly meaningful milestone as it was my first field mission after joining the WCO. I sincerely appreciate the collaboration and active engagement of the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan, fellow facilitators, and all participants throughout the workshop.
