Delivered WCO Data Analytics Workshop in Türkiye

I had the privilege of co-facilitating the WCO Data Analytics National Workshop for the Türkiye Customs, Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Türkiye. The event was held from 20 to 24 October 2025.

The workshop brought together department heads, trade experts, and IT team members from the Directorate General of Customs and the Directorate General of Information Technologies of Ministry of Trade, Türkiye.

During the workshop, we focused on:

• AI applications in customs operations
• Possible applications of Large Language Models(LLMs) and Computer Visions in Customs
• Hands-on sessions with WCO developed AI-based HS classification algorithm
• Knowledge exchange on international best practices
• Conducting a readiness assessment for AI integration and assisting Türkiye Customs in developing an AI/ML implementation roadmap

The workshop addressed the applicability of AI-based solutions in Customs processes, data analytics, and automation approaches, and comprehensive assessments were made of international best practices. It was a unique opportunity to collaborate, share experiences, and support Türkiye Customs in its journey toward more efficient and technology-driven operations.
