I had the privilege of leading a three-day intensive capacity-building workshop focused on Artificial Intelligence for the senior leadership of the Government of Nepal. The event was organized by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) and the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration (MOFAGA) through the Provincial and Local Governance Support Programme (PLGSP).
The workshop served as a critical platform for dialogue with the key policymakers, including Secretaries from the OPMCM and the National Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission, along with senior leaders from the Ministry of Finance, MOFAGA, and the National Planning Commission. Our focus was on analyzing global AI development trends and the specific strategic opportunities they present for Nepal’s digital evolution. We explored how available AI tools can be effectively utilized to enhance both personal productivity and official effectiveness within government workflows. Additionally, we conducted an in-depth discussion on the recently approved National Artificial Intelligence Policy 2082 (2025), alongside essential frameworks for governance, risk management, and the safe use of technology in the public sector.
I am grateful to the OPMCM and MOFAGA for the opportunity to contribute to the digital readiness of our leadership, and I look forward to seeing these insights translate into more efficient, tech-enabled governance for Nepal.
